„Excerpt from Killian Albrecht's report to FIS Congress: Working with the Race Directors and people in the relevant positions of responsibility, we aim to ensure that the highest possible levels of safety are maintained, something that obviously cannot always be achieved without some conflict of opinion. For example, athletes (in Alpine Skiing) were not consulted adequately on safety issues relating to equipment. Only when presented with a petition containing around 200 signatures in which well over 90 per cent of World Cup athletes opposed their procedures did FIS reconsider to some extent. Now athletes are to be more fully involved from the outset in safety and equipment issues. Meetings with representatives from the technical disciplines (ladies’ and men’s) have been arranged to discuss the problem of injuries in the slalom events.“
